Milla Koistinen on opettanut useissa eri yhteyksissä useiden vuosien ajan ja pitää opettamista keskeisenä osana taiteellista työtään. Työpajassa Milla keskittyy harjoituksiin ja menetelmiin, joita hän käyttää monipuolisesti työssään koreografina, esiintyjänä ja opettajana. Harjoitteet on suunniteltu herättämään tarkkuutta, selkeyttä, energiaa, läsnäoloa ja dynamiikkaa. Kuuntelemalla ja kehoa havainnoimalla harjoitellaan liikkumaan valppaasti ja artikuloidusti. Annetun materiaalin monipuolisuus ja improvisaatiot valmistavat kehoa sopeutumaan ja yhdistämään tietoa nopeasti. Tunneilla keskitytään työskentelemään liikkeen periaatteilla, jotka mahdollistavat yksityiskohtaisen, vaivattoman, energisen ja kekseliään liikkumisen.
Milla Koistinen on valmistunut Teatterikorkeakoulusta tanssitaiteen maisteriksi vuonna 2004 ja vuonna 2012 koreografiksi HfS “Ernst Busch”/HZT Berlin –koulusta. Hänen teoksiaan on esitetty muun muassa Radialsystemissä, & Espoossa, Amos Rexissä, HAU Hebbel am Ufer –teatterissa, Tanzhaus NRW:ssä, Ballhaus Ostissa, Uferstudioilla, Tanssin Talossa Helsingissä, Fabriktheater Zürichissä, Dampfzentral Bernissä ja Szene Salzburgissa. Koistinen on opettanut Teatterikorkeakoulussa, Kuvataideakatemiassa, Sasha Waltz & Guests Companyssa, Toula Limnaios Companyssa, Staatstheater Braunschweigissa, Tampereen Nätyllä, Outokummussa, Helsingin Kaupunginteatterissa, HZT:ssä, SEAD-Akatemiassa Salzburgissa, Tanzhaus Zürichissä, Tanzhaus NRW:ssä, Iceland Academy of Artsissa ja Palestinian Popular Art Centerissä Ramallahissa. Vuosina 2020-2024 apap – FEMINIST FUTURES – Euroopan Unionin Creative Europe -ohjelma tuki hänen työtään.

Milla Koistinen has been teaching in several context for many years and considers teaching as a crucial part of her artistic work. Her teaching varies from contemporary technique classes to improvisation, movement research, composition and choreography. In her classes Milla will focus on exercises and methods she uses in diverse ways in her work as a choreographer, performer and teacher. The exercises are designed to evoke precision, clarity, energy, presence and dynamics. Through listening and observing the body the participants practice to move in an alert and articulated way. The variety in given material and improvisations prepare the body to adapt and connect information quickly. The focus in the classes is to work with tools and movement principles, which enable detailed, effortless, energetic and inventive ways of moving.
Milla Koistinen graduated from the Theatre Academy with a Master's degree in dance in 2004 and in 2012 as a choreographer from the HfS "Ernst Busch"/HZT Berlin school. Her works have been performed at Radialsystem, & Espoo, Amos Rex, HAU Hebbel am Ufer Theater, Tanzhaus NRW, Ballhaus Ost, Uferstudios, Dance House Helsinki, Fabriktheater Zurich, Dampfzentral Bern, and Szene Salzburg, among others. Koistinen has taught at the Theater Academy, the Academy of Fine Arts, Sasha Waltz & Guests Company, Toula Limnaios Company, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Tampereen Näty, Outokumpu, Helsinki City Theatre, HZT, SEAD Academy in Salzburg, Tanzhaus Zürich, Tanzhaus NRW, Iceland Academy of Arts, and Palestinian Popular Art Center in Ramallah. From 2020 to 2024, apap – FEMINIST FUTURES – the European Union's Creative Europe program supported her work.
